Following a few short teases and minor reveals, Respawn Entertainment has officially lifted the curtains on its single-player action adventure title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order . Prior to the official unveiling, we’ve learned that it is not using the often EA mandated Frostbite Engine and will not feature multiplayer or microtransactions, and today Respawn has released the game’s first trailer.
Thanks to the official reveal stream, we have a story-based trailer that has been rendered in-engine. It’s worth noting that some of these Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order details have leaked beforehand such as the identities of Cal who has three rules for survival: don’t stand out, accept the past, and trust no one. This trailer focuses heavily on the Padawan in hiding and gives us glimpses into his hiding in the Mid-rim, and bears the title “Trust Only the Force.”
This trailer showcases how dangerous using the Force for Cal is and how hunted the Jedi are during this time, as saving someone seemingly puts him in danger. Whether it be the dark side users portrayed or the Stormtroopers, Cal will be learning to use the force and defend himself in a time where his abilities are considered illegal and dangerous. That said, this trailer does not showcase any gameplay because, as Respawn mentioned, it wanted to focus on the story elements of the story-focused Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Although there is no gameplay shown, Respawn briefly mentions it during their panel. They discuss their approach of “thoughtful” combat that should hopefully effectively combine lightsaber combat and Force powers. Much else is unknown, but if rumors are to be believed, the combat of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be similar to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Without a doubt, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the biggest, most anticipated titles dropping this holiday season. For those interested in all things Star Wars, this means this game is launching around the time of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker , so expect it to be a Star Wars heavy season.
