Does it come with that water basin? Or can you do it in any pot or pan?
I love sous vide cooking. The steaks look pretty gross when they come out. But HOLY SHIT do they taste amazing.
Any pot will do - I used the inner pan from my fryer. Just needs to be big enough for the food to sit in it, ideally up on some type of stand to allow water to flow beneath it.
I’ve thought about doing this for some time now, and never broke down. I may have to get something.
Looks good! I was recently looking at these on Amazon. I didn’t even know these existed until a few weeks ago. Amazing use of heat transfer to cook your food.
You can always try it in a cooler before you drop the cash on the heater.
I’ve done it enough times in the cooler that I’m pretty torn about buying one of those units. It’s already stupid easy. That just makes it ludicrous easy. The single best part to me is that you can’t overcook it. Set the final temp of your meat and let it go.
I have a good sized cooler, what do you use as the element @Claude505?
You just heat the water on the stove and put it in the cooler. Keep a tea kettle or something nearby in case your cooler sucks and you lose too much heat. If you do, just add boiling water to bring it up.
