Originally announced way back at E3 in 2014, Dead Island 2 has appeared to be in various stages of development hell for some time, leading fans to worry that the game would never be completed.
In 2015, the game was delayed from its original Spring release window to an unannounced date in 2016. A few months later, publisher Deep Silver announced that they had decided to part ways with Yager, Dead Island 2’s original development studio. The following year in March 2016, it was revealed that a new studio had been found, with Sumo Digital taking over the project.
Since then, we’ve not received any official updates to provide more detail of what state the game is currently in, although the game’s Twitter account has frequently stated to worried fans that the game is still in development.
With two Sumo Digital game’s releasing recently in the shape of Crackdown 3 and Team Sonic Racing, that could mean that the developer is now able to put all of its resources into finally bringing Dead Island 2 back from the grave.
Could we hear more about Dead Island 2 at this year’s E3? Have you been patiently waiting to hear more about the game?
